Yellowstone Landscapes

It's been a hot minute since I've uploaded any art. I'm editing these to put a little info into each image.

Another sketchbook

I'm sure posting these before I leave for Yellowstone. My last handmade book before I leave. Let's hope that I can make it across country first off, and second that it inspires a lot of art.
I should write or post more, but

Still trying...

Just finished my spring semester and have been getting back into working on the good stuff.

What to write? I've done my best to keep this blog as professional as possible. The idea of displaying any of my personal life here is honestly horrifying. You never know who's watching, or how what you reveal can come back to bite you in the ass.

The last few years of my life have felt like I've been waiting, for school to end or for myself to reach some level of preparedness for a career or life style I want. The scary part is that unbeknownst to myself I've actually been working really hard to get my self ready. Maybe I have not done as much art as I feel I should of done in this last year or so, but I've been working on the nitty gritty boring stuff. As well as doing my best to become a more mature and social person.

Shit. I still have a lot of work. Well the latency period needs to end. Now. And I'm hoping a summer job at Yellowstone will be the kick in the ass I need.

Anyways I feel I've successfully avoided getting into anything truely personal yet again, so here's some art.

Body/Landscape Mix

I'll post some details later, kind of busy right now.

EDIT-I recently took this to a local gallery in Macon, La Galarie which is owned by the completely wonderful Marike. I've been looking at this piece and just feeling like something was off with it. Either it was unfinished or needed some serious reworking and her advice was exactly what I needed.

First she pointed out that there was simply to much happening, it's to busy. She compared it to a woman wearing to much make up, caked on. Second, it's an uncomfortable image, something about it is unsettling to her. She felt that something terrible had happened to the woman, and the image feels violent. In the end we decided the best thing to do would be to crop the image, cutting the entire left side off. I agree with her and plan on doing this soon.

Quick Post! Figure work.

I've been really slack on posting recently and this one won't really be worth a full post, but I just wanted to get back into the habit.

Here's a 8" by 8" gouache painting. I'm probably going to do some more work to it, but it's basically done.

Small update ~ Big plans

I realize I have not posted in a few weeks, and at the moment I do not have a lot of work to post. I do have some.

First I want to talk about two things. My basic plan for what art I'm going to make over the next month or two. I working on putting together enough work to have a good website. I've broken up the categories I'm going to have into the following, and have listed what I need from each category to satisfy my portfolio needs.
-Abstract/Non-Representational= don't need any more, I already have plenty
-Comic Art= I need to finish the monster hunt story and the Retell/Retail story
-Commercial Design= i need one more cd cover and 2 poster designs
-Digital Work=i need 5 digital paintings and 5 3d models
-Landscapes=got plenty of these
-Murals=got enough of these
-Portraits/figures=need 7 portraits
-Sketchbook pages=got plenty

That's my checklist for the next month or two. The other topic I'm writing about is about future events I want to make happen or be a part of.
-Spring Arts/Music Festival=Something in between Cherry Blossom and Bragg Jam to keep the community spirit going. I'm thinking it will include day time and night time events. There is a great possibility that I might be able to use The Rotunda in Macon's Central City Park.
-During the day we could have a selection of art set up as well as interactive booths, such as face painting, caricatures, throwing paint, making messes. We could have people selling shirts and gear and clothing and cds. Have a few bands around lunch time, serve lunch. Maybe keep going until night time, or even take a break between the day and night times.
-During the night time we could have performance art, bands playing, serve alcohol.
-Macon Arts Under 30/$100= Heatherly invited me to put work into a future show for people under 30 and work worth less than 100.

Now, for the art. First up are two wall sized paintings I've worked on. I've added some greens and some details into the landscape one, and will add washes of color over the abstract one.

This is a collaboration with my friend Jesse Bird. I'm very happy with it, and would love to do more art with her.

This is a sample cd cover I worked up. I'm thinking about actually making this into a shirt or something like that.

This is another one of those cheesy ol' landscapes.

Recent Landscapes

I recently went to a local Goodwill and found 30 or so frames and only paid $40!

I'm going to fill these up and sell them for cheap. Here's the first few landscapes I've finished. Each one is 5inches by 7inches, and $15 for each.

Step by Step Chalk Pastel

This is kind of for my own sake, trying to figure out if I have a certain pattern of doing my work. I'm going to try and do something like this with all my work from now on, and see where I need to practice, what I'm doing right/wrong.
If this doesn't make any sense, or isn't deemed worthy of being done, some one let me know

Digital Work

Here's some recent work I've done, concerning designs used in CDs by local bands here in Macon.
